Lynn and I were so sorry to hear that Doris had passed on, to continue her journey at John’s side. We always saw Doris as a joyful person and as a warm and welcoming hostess. She managed to be upbeat, even when times were tough, and even at those times when sorrows were heavy. When I first met Doris – Christmas 1951 – I saw her as being outgoing and joyful. Quite unlike the reserved and somewhat dour branch of the Weller family she had married into. I know this is what John saw in her. Her warm hospitality I saw in later years when I would blow in unannounced from far distant places, on leave from the merchant navy. She made me feel so welcome. In later years, when my late wife and I came for a visit, we always found that same warm welcome, and enjoyed her signature dish of roast lamb and all the trimmings. Yes, we’ll miss you, Doris, and your joy and your hospitality. Thank you for everything. J.H. "Sam" aka "Ian" Weller, Burlington, Ontario,Canada

Having known Doris as a wonderful friend for 67 years, I am saddened by her loss but rejoice to know she is alive with her husband in the glory of Heaven. Her radiant smile, good humour and loving advice will be missed. She greatly encouraged me when I was alone in hospital at the age of 17. In fact, she was always a friendly and encouraging lady.
